The way we bank is changing. And the way we send money is changing. Digital banking is about getting back to basics, connecting people and money to make life happen.
Legacy architectures are making financial services companies uncompetitive, undifferentiated and undesirable. Technological advances have lowered barriers to entry and created opportunities to address needs in novel ways at a much lower cost. Customers also want a bank that comes to them rather than forces them to go to it—they value convenience and simplicity.
USERS & AUDIENCE
The target users of the Digital Bank app are the affluent, young, up-and-coming digital savvy market. We also have the ability to target the “unbanked” as a result of the low cost banking platform and new mobile payment mechanisms. These users want a unique experience that is different from the traditional banks where they don't trust their needs to be met.
TEAM & ROLE
The project had a 4 week timeline to create a proof of concept. The team was comprised of myself as Creative Lead, a UX Lead, and an iOS Engineer. Additionally, we worked side by side with the business/functional team to better understand our audience and the technical requirements of the product.
As this was just a proof of concept for the proprietary blockchain technology, we focused on the onboarding experience and also the payment feature. This involved understanding the technology requirements for sending payments cross-border, but also the many regulatory requirements for building a bank with no physical location to open an account.
USER INTERFACE DESIGN
The objective of the interface was to create a unique banking experience which stood out amongst the industry competition. Before we established the look, we researched the competition and also created 3 different directions. We presented the directions to the business team and we decided on a darker theme using the keywords: dark, modern, simple, bold, secure.
The dashboard is designed to provide the user with an overview of their account, as well as the main actions for the app: send money, receive money, and pay bills.
Digital Bank makes it easy to send payments to anybody anywhere. Cross-border payments allow you to select a contact, change currency, and send money instantly and safely.
We created an experience unique to the banking industry, while also providing a platform to showcase the technology behind it. We designed an intuitive and simple experience that allows users to quickly and easily send payments to anybody anywhere, while also meeting their banking needs.
The first build of the app was used to present the technology and the potential it has in the banking industry. It has received a lot of press in the industry and we're continuing to develop the platform.
